Ever since I was a child, I wanted to work in film.
When I was 18, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream.
I graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood, and studied Shakespeare at the British American Drama Academy at Oxford University.
In 2018, I discovered that my great-grandfather, Oscar Hidalgo, had shot extensive film in the 1920s and 30s, and I was able to digitize and preserve 64/65 of his films.
Follow Hidalgo Film to see his incredible work.
With only slight editing from me, this is a film largely composed by my Oscar Hidalgo about the childhood of my grandfather, Carlos Hidalgo. Since there were so many Carlos's in the family, they would refer to him as Charlie when visiting Chile.
Oscar Hidalgo was ahead of his time, shooting stereoscopic (3D) photos at the same time as shooting 8mm film on multiple cameras in the 1920s and 1930s. This short clip was filmed near their home in Larchmont Gardens, NY.
This short clip is an example of the life and times Oscar captured in Chillan, Chile in the 1930s.
